On the auspicious occasion of the
holy month of Ramadan, Dr Zakir Husain Library in collaboration with Noor
Microfilm International Centre, Iran Culture House, New Delhi is organized an
exhibition on `The Holy Quran'.

The purpose of this exhibition is to highlight
the significance of this holy book as well as to introduce the various calligraphic
styles representing the cultural heritage of India and Iran.

Replica of Quran Jama is from Mughal India, Approximately the 10th century AH. Such shirts were worn under armor and were thought to protect the wearer from harm. |
1. The display of the rare
collection of archival manuscripts of Holy Quran which are scientifically
preserved in the library. These manuscripts depict different calligraphic
styles and illuminations.

2. The development of Islamic
calligraphic scripts from 7th to 14-th century. The chronological development
of different calligraphic styles is reflected through the medium of posters.
The calligraphic styles Kufic, Nask, Muhaqqaq, Thuluth, Nastaliq, Shikasta are
displayed along with the description regarding their historical progress.

3. The showcasing of the Islamic
calligraphic art pieces with elaborated designs, patterns and shapes on paper,
wood, fabric, metal, ivory and animal skin.
4. The live demonstration of Quranic
calligraphy art and manuscript preservation techniques.

5. Library's plan to release a
souvenir of the Quran manuscripts and other art form, displayed in this
exhibition.

The Library also intends to
organize an extended programme consisting of lectures and competitions related the
Holy Quran and Islam.
The Exhibition shall be open for viewing till 25th June, 2018 from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm (Monday to Friday).
